Certificate in Training and Development in the Active Leisure Sector

This qualification is particularly relevant for individuals who wish to pursue a career in training and development within the active leisure sector.

Candidates will learn:

  • How to design, deliver, assess and evaluate a structured programme of learning
  • How to plan, teach and evaluate relevant and effective learning sessions where candidate interest and stimulation are maintained
  • The principles of education, training, assessment and evaluation applied to the active leisure sector
  • How to use a variety of teaching skills and learning resources to accommodate different learner needs and learning styles

Prerequisites
Centres must ensure that candidates have industry experience and hold a qualification in the particular subject area that they wish to teach.

Candidates holding non NQF certificates may be considered for this qualification.
However, training providers must apply APA or APL as appropriate to ensure that the requirements of the prerequisites are met. All evidence of APA and APL must be available to the CYQ External Verifier upon request.

NB: It is the responsibility of the Training Provider to ensure that all candidates meet the prerequisites prior to assessment of this qualification. CYQ is unable to certificate unless the prerequisites are met.

Assessment
Internally assessed via:
  1. Portfolio/programme of learning
    (which includes full planning, marketing and
    resource information for an accredited qualification)
  2. Worksheets/short essays/assignments
  3. Practical teaching including planning,
    teaching and evaluating
  4. Reflective learning/evaluation task
