Certificate in Sports Massage 

This new Level 3 qualification is an ideal addition to the skill set of the Personal Trainer allowing them to diversify their services to clients and increase their employment potential. With the opportunities presented by the run up to London 2012, it also opens up the possibility of working with both amateur and professional athletes.

The qualification allows entry on to the Sports Massage Association's (SMA) register at Level 3.

Candidates will learn:

  • The clinical applications of sports massage
  • Additional anatomy and physiology specific to sports massage including the structure and function of the:
    -Skin
    -Lymphatic system
    -Neuroendocrine system
  • How to employ basic and advanced massage techniques
  • How to gather and assess information from clients to apply appropriate massage techniques
  • How to prescribe exercise to promote and maintain the benefits gained from sports massage therapy

Candidates must be in possession of a CYQ Level 3 Exercise and Fitness knowledge or equivalent and hold a current first aid qualification.
