CYQ is delighted to announce that Rob May has been appointed as Head of CYQ. Rob, who joins on 1 September, will spearhead CYQ’s operations in support of an extensive and expanding range of colleges and training providers across the UK, as well as to diversify its provision of learning and career opportunities for young people.

As part of Central YMCA, the world’s first YMCA and forefather of the now global federation that spans 120 countries and touches the lives of 60 million people, Rob becomes Head of CYQ at an exciting time for the charity. Following its recent acquisition of YMCA Training, Central YMCA has built upon its well-earned reputation as a leading light in the UK education sector, now offering home-grown training, apprenticeships and qualifications to tens of thousands of young people across the country.

Rob has considerable expertise and experience of delivering quality products and services to customers in the education sector. He joins the CYQ team from vocational education specialists City & Guilds, for whom he has worked since 2007, most recently as UK Customer Strategy and Planning Manager and prior to that in a number of senior management positions with specific responsibility for strategy and business development.

Having spent the past 10 years successfully developing innovative products and new business opportunities in the education sector, Rob brings a passion for learning and marketing alongside a wealth of relevant commercial experience – all assets that will benefit CYQ’s clients as it  looks to not only consolidate its position as the awarding organisation of choice for the health, fitness and wellbeing sectors, but also to grow into a number of new sectors, with qualifications and on-line resources, in the near future.

Speaking of his new role, Rob commented; “I’ve always had the greatest respect and admiration for CYQ and I’m over the moon to be joining this unique and vibrant charity at such an exciting and yet challenging time for the education sector. I intend to ensure that CYQ maintains and enhances its excellent reputation for client support whilst also developing the best and most innovative products and technologies to make our colleges and private training providers successful. To be given this opportunity is hugely exciting. I can’t wait to get started.”

Rosi Prescott, CEO of Central YMCA, added: “I’m delighted to welcome Rob to the team and am confident that his extensive strategic experience will enable CYQ to reach new heights within an ever changing and ever more challenging environment for our customers. This is indeed an exciting time for the charity, as we strive to tackle the travesty of one million unemployed young people by helping more of them to realise their dreams through training, apprenticeships and CYQ’s expanding portfolio of qualifications. Rob’s appointment could therefore not come at a better time for a charity that seeks to serve only through education.”
