CYQ’s Martin Petch and Amanda Smallman attended the AoC Sport in the Curriculum Conference at Loughborough University on Tuesday 27 January.
During round table discussions, Martin and Amanda spoke with around 30 colleges . Feedback included ideas for master-class CPD sessions, a "Centre of Excellence" system to recognise outstanding providers and a request for training products to assist learners in using social media. This feedback will be discussed as CYQ begin to develop their functional plans for the coming financial year.
On the subject of the BTEC, colleges felt that if an alternative qualification could deliver UCAS points, enable learners to be employer ready, and bridge the gaps in the existing provision then it would be viable.
Colleges also expressed an interest in the development of our e-learning and blended learning solutions. Amanda and Adam Williams, CYQ’s Publishing Manager, have already started to engage with colleges in the West Midlands as a pilot group for expanding our reach into this market and will continue market scoping over the coming weeks.
Last – but by no means least – we were approached by a large London-based college regarding centre approval. Having asked other delegates who they should work with they sought us out, which is testament to our continued reputation in the industry.
