Centre training days
The centre training day schedule for 2010 is now available. It contains dates and venues for a range of standardisation and syllabus support days to help you deliver CYQ qualifications. This year, we will be covering:
- Assessment & IV
- Level 1, 2 and 3 standardisation training
- Level 2 Chair Based Exercise
- Level 2 Circuit Training
- Level 2 Group Indoor Cycling
- Level 2 Health Related Exercise for Children
- Level 2 Studio Resistance Training
- Level 3 Advanced Fitness Instructing in the context of ETM
- Level 3 Exercise Referral
- Level 3 Sports Massage
In addition, the schedule now includes a number of new QCF Readiness days. We strongly recommend that centres attend one of these days, in order to be fully equipped to deal with the changes heralded by the QCF.

A1 and V1 training
Next year we will once again be delivering A1 and V1 training courses, as part of the support services we provide to approved centres. The courses, approved and accredited by Edexcel, are designed to assist centres in ensuring that their staff can easily access the appropriate training.
The A1 qualification is for experienced exercise and fitness instructors and tutors who wish to become qualified assessors; the V1 is aimed at experienced exercise and fitness instructors and assessors who wish to become qualified internal verifiers.
The fee for each course remains £450 per candidate, which includes registration, certification, learning resources and assessment support. Click here to view the schedule and book.
Postal strike

eAssessment gets underway
eAssessment is now available to your centre, providing you with instant access to learners' results and removing the time and cost burden of printing and returning answer sheets.
You can register learners for eAssessment for all CYQ theory assessments with the exception of Level 3 Exercise Referral and Level 3 Sports Massage. These will be available from 31st October 2009.
As per paper-based assessment, you are required to provide CYQ with one working day's notice prior to assessment. For full information, click here to go the eAssessment page where you can download user guides and the registration form (please note, you may need to be signed into the website to view this page).
EV visits and support
In these turbulent times, with the onset of the QCF, uncertainty over funding and the wider problems that persist with the economy, we would like to reassure centres that unlike some other awarding bodies we will not be cutting our EV visits or support.
This isn’t simply an issue of quality assurance; it is precisely in these times that we want to maintain the support we offer, to help you through these events and to develop and grow your programmes.
