CYQ approved for the QCF
Printer-friendly version
CYQ has received full approval from Ofqual, the qualifications regulator, to operate within the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF). To date (18th November 2009), only 17 other of the 129 awarding bodies in the UK have achieved this endorsement. The QCF is the new framework of regulated qualifications that will replace the current National Qualifications Framework (NQF) by December 2010.
The confirmation means that CYQ, the UK’s leading health and fitness awarding body, can submit new units and qualifications onto the new framework. It follows a lengthy and rigorous process, in which the regulator placed the awarding body’s processes for qualification development, verification and administration under the microscope.
Jenny Patrickson, CYQ Executive Director, explains, "I am delighted that we have now received full approval for CYQ to operate in the QCF. The new framework will provide CYQ with the potential to offer a wider range of health and fitness related units and qualifications, affording greater choice and flexibility to our approved centres. CYQ is proactively preparing for the implementation of the QCF and this endorsement ensures that we will be ready for the new framework."
Further to the measures taken to achieve QCF approval, CYQ has been engaging extensively with its 300 approved centre about the changes heralded by the QCF, through forums, review groups and the launch of the Get set for the QCF blog.
