Award in Chair-Based Exercise for the Frailer Older Person
This qualification is available to individuals who wish to deliver chair-based exercise sessions to frailer older adults. It is also relevant for those already running such sessions without a formal qualification.
Candidates will learn:
- The main physiological changes that occur to the body systems as a result of the ageing process
- Screening tests that can be used to determine readiness to exercise for older people
- The referral routes available for older people unable to exercise
- How to deliver a safe and effective prescribed programme of chair-based exercises to the frailer older person
